MUTEK Barcelona: Five Days of Music and Sound Discovery
The international festival of electronic music and digital creativity MUTEK Barcelona has released the full lineup along with the daily program of its 15th anniversary edition. From April 9 to 13, artists and audiences from around the world will gather in Barcelona for a new artistic exploration of sound and music.
For five days, attendees will be able to witness live performances, AV shows, and installations in four key locations in the city: Sala Apolo, Roca Gallery, Antigua Fàbrica Estrella Damm, and Paral·lel 62.

The opening event of MUTEK Barcelona festival will take place on Tuesday, April 9 at the Sala Apolo with the exclusive concert of English electronic music group Autechre and the Live AV of Belgian musician Roméo Poirier in collaboration with Ohme creative studio. Autechre's live experience is a classic, dark, and mind-blowing audio show. Roméo Poirer and Ohme will present Tales of Entropy, an audiovisual show based on generative music production, polarized light microscopy, and computer vision.

Focused on exploring how the limits and material possibilities of sound and light not only condition our perception of space but also create space. They join again with Roca Barcelona Gallery to present for the fifth consecutive year their joint cycle 'Sculpted With Light & Sound' coinciding with the opening of the festival, where artists and speakers will relate space, light, and sound. Martin Messier will premiere in Spain his latest project 1 Drop 1000 Years, an original performance that reflects on a fundamental process for the balance of life: homeostasis. DATUM CUT will present their current works that seek to establish relationships between obsolete media and contemporary technologies in search of new aesthetic possibilities.

Large-scale sensory audiovisual works that fuse image, sound and technology are at the core of the A/Visions program. Artificial intelligence, neuroscience, modular synthesizers and analog visual landscapes meet lyrical art and electronic vibrations for an organic and transformative experience. Daito Manabe will make his city debut to present his AV show rich in high-definition realism through the recognition and recombination of elemental building blocks. Hatis Noit presents the live debut of his acclaimed album Aura which invites audiences into these poignant and nostalgic soundscapes. The Nocturne program is held this year in Sala Apolo on Friday and Saturday, both in Nitsa and Astin. In the line-up, through innovative and reinvented electronic music, with cutting-edge technologies or atypical instruments, accompanied by fascinating images, artists will offer their audience the most innovative electronic music.

Five evening listening programs in an intimate setting, to absorb the original and intriguing character of delicate live performances focused on local and international artists featuring debuts and premieres of emerging talents. Efe Ce Ele will present a Live AV show, revolving around experimentation and emotionality, confronting the opposing concepts of binary culture. Grand River will showcase All Above (Editions Mego, 2023), in collaboration with the Instituto Italiano di Cultura Barcelona, a Live AV show that explores the depths of orchestral sound, organic textures, electronics and synthesis. Noemi Büchi will debut her album Matter, which captures the tension between growth and decay, consonance and dissonance, reflecting Büchi's own catharsis through music. SPIME IM will premiere their live audio-visual show Grey Line which delves into current affairs with raw sincerity, such as the inevitability of climate change and humanity's impact on the Earth. Yamila will revisit the emotional textures of Spanish folklore and the possibilities of contemporary electronica and bring her haunting, evocative and emotionally transcendent sound to MUTEK for the first time thanks to Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques.
