Grand River (IT/NL) — All Above

Grand River is an Italian-Dutch composer and audio designer, who creates experimental electronic music with deep emotional tonalities and complex rhythms. At MUTEK Barcelona she will present All Above (Editions Mego, 2023), an audiovisual performance that explores the depths of orchestral sound, organic textures, electronics and synthesis in a powerful stream of compositions as delicate as they are profound, wrapped in piano, vocal explorations and enveloping pulsations

Yamila (ES/BE)

Spanish composer, cellist, singer and producer Yamila will revisit the emotional textures of Spanish folklore and the possibilities of contemporary electronica to envelop us in a ritual-moment that revisits narratives of redemption, mysticism and collective wounds. With her albums Visions (Umor Rex, 2022) and Iras Fajro (Forbidden Colours, 2019) as well as multiple collaborations with contemporary dance companies and visual artists, she will bring her haunting, evocative and emotionally transcendent sound to MUTEK and Barcelona for the first time.

SPIME.IM (IT) — Grey Line

Grey Line is a live AV show by media art collective SPIME.IM. The performance delves into themes related to contemporary issues with raw sincerity, namely the inevitability of climate change and humanity’s impact on the earth. Reflecting on our exposure to and assimilation of today’s continuous media bombing, SPIME.IM attempts to describe the emotional place in which we are trapped and the "era of the absurd" we are living in, also named "the wrong timeline".

Noémi Büchi (CH)

The Swiss/French composer and sound artist creates electronic, symphonic maximalism. Her music is defined by a delicate synthesis of textural rhythms and electroacoustic- orchestral abstraction. Noémi Büchi will be debuting at MUTEK Barcelona her album Does it Still Matter, that captures the tension between growth and decay, consonance and dissonance, mirroring her own catharsis through music.

Efe Ce Ele (CO/ES)

Colombian artist Efe Ce Ele, the artistic name of the Colombian and Barcelona-based Feli Cabrera Lopez, will also present a Live AV show, which revolves around experimentation and emotionality, confronting the opposing concepts of binary culture. Her works are materialized in various formats that encompass sound art, electronic music, AV projects, transmedia performance and generative art.

Sian Fan (UK) — Deity installation

Sculpture, performance, and digital media are blended in Sian Fan's practice to examine how technology shapes our physical reality. With the support of the British Council she brings us her digital performance, Deity, which merges live motion capture with physical movement, allowing interaction with a fantasy video game-inspired avatar. Set in a shrine-like space with screens mirroring inactive devices, the avatar reflects our bond with our digital selves, diving into and emerging from the 'black mirror'. The installation, featuring interactive motion capture, multi-channel video, and sound, highlights the disjointed relationship between our digital and physical existences.
