Frankfurt-born Lawrence Lek is a London-based artist who predominantly works in video games, 3D animation and virtual reality. He uses computer-generated imagery and interactive software to develop digital environments he describes as “three-dimensional collages of found objects and situations.” Often set within alternate histories of real places, or uncanny versions of the near future, his virtual worlds and films explore the impact of technology on society.

Recent projects include: AIDOL, Sadie Coles HQ, London (2019); AI: More than Human, Barbican, London (2019); 2065, K11 Art Space, Hong Kong (2018); Nøtel, Stroom Den Haag, The Hague (2018); Play Station, Art Night, London (2017); The New Normal, UCCA, Beijing (2017); Glasgow International, Tramway, Glasgow (2016); Secret Surface, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin (2016). Lek received the 2017 Jerwood/FVU Award and the 2015 Dazed Emerging Artist Award, and is represented by Sadie Coles HQ, London.
