Focused on exploring how the boundaries and material possibilities of sound and light not only shape our perception of space but also create space, MUTEK ES once again teams up with Roca Barcelona Gallery to present their collaborative series 'Sculpted With Light & Sound' for the fifth year, coinciding with the festival's opening. Artists and speakers will delve into the relationship between space, light, and sound.

DATUM CUT (CA/QC)

Maxime Corbeil-Perron is an artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal whose practice is developed in a multiplicity of media: audiovisual performance, experimental film, electroacoustic composition, improvisation, sound art, and installation. Through an approach related to media archaeology, his current works seek to establish relationships between obsolete media and contemporary technologies in search of new aesthetic possibilities. MUTEK's 15th anniversary presentation in Barcelona will be the first time the Québec artist presents a show in Spain.

Martin Messier (CA/QC)

For over fifteen years, Martin Messier has been creating works that merge sounds, objects, and images. His performances and installations, with a clear choreographic background, place the body at the forefront of the experience. After studying composition at the University of Montreal, he shifted towards an experimental sound practice that integrates image and video, quickly beginning to develop audiovisual performative devices with everyday objects and the sonic potential of materials.

During the inaugural session Martin Messier will presente his installation Impulse for the first time in Barcelona. A poetic analogy with a technological twist on the functioning of the brain, and a piece with an electrifying effect on the viewer, amplifying their sensations and allowing them to access the essence of the senses.
