Cultivating Cultural Synergies: The Québec-Cataluña Nexus in Digital Creativity

For the past 15 years, MUTEK, an international festival of digital creativity, has been fostering connections between Montreal and Barcelona, as well as between Québec and Catalonia, thanks to the inception of the MUTEK ES festival in 2009. Each year, MUTEK ES has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to developing avant-garde and bold programming, playing a key role in positioning Barcelona as a central hub for the exchange of new trends in digital creativity and technology, both on a local and global scale. The significance of Barcelona, Catalonia, and Spain as potential collaborators and export markets for Québec was underscored in the 2023 Study on the potential of immersive experiences for key American and European markets, commissioned by Xn Québec/l’Effet Québec. This study focused on Spain as one of the eight promising markets analyzed.

Delve into the innovative exchanges between Québec and Cataluña, featuring cutting-edge projects in the digital arts from both regions. This engaging session showcases key representatives from arts organizations, cultural exportation offices, and artists, shedding light on the transformative potential of international cultural cooperation. It offers a unique perspective on forging global connections and pioneering in the digital realm.

A MUTEK Montréal and MUTEK Barcelona co-production. Presented in collaboration with Estrella Damm and the support of Gouvernement du Québec, Bureau du Québec à Barcelone, Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB), Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC) through its internationalization brand Catalan Arts, and Institut Ramon Llull.
