MUTEK ES continues its activities for 2021

Last May, we said goodbye to the 12th edition of the International Festival of Digital Creativity, MUTEK Barcelona with a resounding sold-out of the 20 performances and artistic projects in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The MUTEK ES platform continues its activities for the second half of the year, advancing with the MUTEK Connect project, connecting Barcelona, Catalonia and Spain with the different editions of MUTEK festivals around the world (Montreal, Mexico, Japan).

MUTEK Connect will feature hybrid activities (physical and virtual), presenting a series of audiovisual concerts, conferences and professional networking meetings, including the Virtual Market of the MUTEK Forum (Montreal) and the Spanish premiere of the new show by Italian artist Caterina Barbieri.

Acclaimed composer and musician Caterina Barbieri expands her newly launched label, Light-Years, into an immersive live experience. For the second half of 2021, the label has selected a series of special dates across Europe - one of them MUTEK Barcelona - to present a series of concerts led by the Italian artist. The idea is not to create a program of acts, but a continuous immersive environment where Barbieri hosts the artists associated with her new label. This show will feature extended ambient elements and a custom visual design by German artist Marcel Weber aka MFO and the stage presence of Norwegian saxophonist Bendik Giske.

The event is supported by “MUSE, A New Wave in the Mediterranean”, a project that aims to support the talent of women in the most experimental cultural and creative scene within the scope of the ITmakES project launched by the Embassy of Italy in Madrid and the Consulate General of Italy in Barcelona.

The seventh edition of the professional meeting MUTEK Forum will bring together more than 100 international speakers in 60 activities in parallel to the 22nd edition of the MUTEK Montreal Festival. Seven themes will be discussed, such as 'Digital Detox' or 'Exploring Imaginaries in Artificial Intelligence'. The meeting, 100% virtual, will take place on the Swapcard platform, where the Virtual Market will expose more than 400 organizations from 50 countries; among them, an important delegation of Spanish institutional projects, creative studios, cultural agents, festivals and platforms that work with a gender perspective, all invited by MUTEK ES.
