A Brazilian-born transdisciplinary artist and producer now living in Sweden, Diego Galafassi has been exploring the connection between arts and sciences for his entire career. With a Ph.D. in Sustainability Science, as well as a collection of works that include films "The Life of Lines" and UNESCO Patronage project "Charismatic Megafauna", he continually sees the unity between the two disciplines, and the power of merging the two.
During his 2019 artist residency, Diego Galafassi collaborated with the Phi Centre to create the mixed-reality project "Breathe". The installation, which premiered at the 2020 Sundance New Frontier Exhibition, is a shared experience for four to six users. Featuring Magic Leap technology and biometric sensors, the project demonstrates the connectedness of life through the air we breathe, highlighting environmental as well as human concerns.
