Carol Santana is a visual multimedia artist from Rio de Janeiro, specialized in digital content creation, videomapping, VJing and urban interventions with large-scale projection.
From Environmental Engineering to Communication Graduation and Master's study in Entertainment Design at the European Institute of Design, she connects to different cultures and artistic strands, and has her research based on urban art, the appreciation of nature and ancestry culture.
This VJ is on the line up of major national and international videomapping festivals such as Visual Brasil (Barcelona), IBIT Mapping 2021 (Ibitipoca), Guará Mapping Festival 2021 (Paraná), SSA Mapping 2021 (Salvador), A.FRONT 2021 (Fortaleza), Festa da Luz 2021 (BH), Ilumina Rio 2021 (RJ), Amazônia Mapping Festival 2020 and 2021, Luzes da Liberdade (BH) 2020, Festival of Lights SP 2020, Cerrado Mapping Festival 2020, Luzes SP 2020, among others.
At I-Bit Mapping, together with artists and biologists, she immersed herself in the nature of Ibitipoca (MG) with videomapping interventions in caves, stone walls, large stretches of sand and in the giant iron sculptures located inside the reserve. Carol had already projected on historic places in Rio de Janeiro such as the MAR Museum, Arcos da Lapa, Museum of Tomorrow and at the Santo Amaro community for a worldwide project of the Converse brand, Converse City Forests Project, working on perspectives of environmental awareness and representativeness.
HAUX and YUXIBU are recent works created together with indigenous Huni Kuin artists. The first, created for the Amazônia Mapping Festival and later broadcast on the Oi Futuro channel, and the second, awarded at the Guará Mapping Fest (Paraná). She participated in the Arts SP 2021 project, developing a mini doc about her creative process. She also projected her visuals for the group Diederdas, in Berlin, has commanded large screens of shows, is a VJ in important festivals of the current scene such as Rock the Mountain (RJ) and Arvo Festival (FLP) and is part of the MOV Festival team, an integrated arts festival and projected, which at the beginning of the quarantine reinvented itself as a strong movement for the independent art scene. The artist is also part of Multimanas, a VJS women's collective.
In 2021, she worked alongside with Argentinian artist Berenice Llorens within Artlab Artistic Residences Program x Amplify D.A.I, and their final work will be projected in Mutek AR 2022.
