Chris Barr is Director of Arts and Technology Innovation at Knight Foundation. With a background in design and new media, he has served the foundation in multiple roles focused on technology and innovation. He has developed and led major foundation initiatives focused on helping institutions such as museums and libraries use technology to meet new audience demands. In addition, he steers foundation projects that explore the impact of digital transformation on the future of cultural institutions, including those that look at emerging technology like immersive tech. His leadership of the Knight Prototype Fund, a signature foundation initiative, provided a unique philanthropic avenue for media innovators to explore early stage projects. Barr holds a Master of Fine Arts in media study from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a bachelor's degree in fine art from West Virginia University.
