Born and raised in Xalapa, Mexico, Rebolledo (aka Maurico Rebolledo) began his musical career began as a DJ in 2002, and shortly thereafter was chosen to be one of the residents at the well-known Mexican club Santanera. It was on the decks that he developed his musical tastes, which consisted of mixing a wide variety of old and new tracks held together by a consistent disco groove. By the time he began producing his own material, his sound had evolved to something much rougher and edgier, closer in tone to nu-electro than disco, but with a consistently Latinized flavour. Rebolledo caught the attention of Kompakt’s Matias Aguayo, who invited the budding Mexican producer to join his Cómeme collective of Latin American producers. Since then, Rebolledo has released a number of tracks on Cómeme, as well as remixes for world-class labels such as Kompakt and Turbo.
