Edition 11

2020

Thank you for a revealing 11th edition!

More than 6000 attendees between Barcelona and Madrid, the success of MUTEK.ES Symposium and the consolidation of Casa MUTEK x Reebok.

From the presentation of the festival for the first time in Madrid, by Roca Madrid Gallery on February 19, to the official dates in Barcelona, more than 6000 people have enjoyed the 12 events that have taken place between Antigua Fábrica Estrella Damm, Roca Barcelona Gallery, Institut Français, Nitsa/Astin, Casa MUTEK x Reebok (Bridge_48), Laut, Phonos-UPF, ABX10, SAE, BAU, IAAC and IED.

A total of 41 artists of 11 nationalities and 35 speakers participating in the different professional activities and the first MUTEK.ES Symposium, were presented in our 11th adventure in Barcelona. This edition stood out for presenting 7 world premieres and 15 debuts in the city and for promoting multiple spaces for reflection and debate, fostering professional networking, creating synergies with the main university centres of creativity and design in Barcelona and, above all, interconnecting a large number of institutions and projects, sharing values and working together, to add up and be a driving force for real change.

In this 2020 edition, the MUTEK.ES platform has consolidated Casa MUTEK x Reebok in Bridge_48 hosting a program full of energy thanks to which we have met local emerging collectives and artists, we have debated about the situation of festivals in the city and we have known closely the work of international artists noted for their disruptive and innovative proposals.

Casa MUTEK x Reebok has also been home to the first MUTEK.ES Symposium focused on INTERCONNECTIVITY as a tool for EMPOWERING women creators and marginalized creative scenes to drive change in the music and digital arts industry.

"We are really excited about the great reception of the first MUTEK Symposium in Spain by the artistic community and the network of cultural managers, collectives and institutions active in the city, as well as the participation and involvement of professionals from around the world, to reflect and discuss during 2 days on the challenges we face and the goals that we as an industry have to set ourselves, to continue the global commitment of the MUTEK network to contribute to the empowerment of women creators in the digital arts and electronic music" - says Pat Quinteiro, director of the symposium, and adds - "From the MUTEK.ES platform we are committed to continue generating this annual meeting point, to illuminate and promote a cultural change in terms of diversity, inclusion and gender equality in the creative industry".

The activities at Casa MUTEK x Reebok in Bridge_48 will continue in the coming months, as part of the MUTEK x Reebok: Energy amplified cycle, tracing the path towards MUTEK Barcelona 2021. Stay tuned to our networks.

On behalf of all of us in the MUTEK.ES and MUTEK global community, we want to send our deep and sincere support to all promoters, artists, professionals and friends of the industry, given the critical situation that is being experienced worldwide in recent days.
