Korea Town Acid is Born in Seoul, South Korea and based out of Toronto. Jessica Cho’s venture into music began when her mother enrolled her in piano lessons. These days, Cho experiments with different soundscapes while keeping her classically trained foundations intact. She fuses these sounds with concepts of movement and texture, to create multi-faceted works that go beyond the club. She experiments in her unique sound design by using hardware, analogue/digital polysynths, drum machines and samplers to express her unpredictable soundscapes with moody textures.
Over the past decade Cho’s signature futuristic delivery, compatible as a DJ set or with live hardware synths, has garnered her global attention. She has showcased in Seoul, New York, Athens, Berlin, London, and Helsinki, as well as throughout Canada. Despite the lack of touring opportunities that 2020 brought, Cho kept active throughout the year, maintaining a monthly online residency at The Lot Radio in New York, and featured as a guest in Worldwide FM. In 2021, Korea Town Acid was invited to perform at CODA in Toronto, as part of DJ Mag’s Top 100 clubs around the world. In February 2022 she was part of Hinter.live, a tree-planting fundraising initiative, broadcasted by MUTEK, that showcases artists performing throughout Canada’s National Parks.
She is an alumni of the 2018 Redbull Music Academy and was one of four invitees to participate in a master class with Suzanne Cianni at the National Music Centre in 2019. As a producer, she has contributed to the track Play No Games on rapper Cadence Weapon's 2021 Polaris Prize winning album Parallel World, and recently featured remix on Honeydrip's Remix album Anti-ego in 2022.
Korea Town Acid released her first full-length album Metamorphosis in April 2021 via URBNET. Entirely self-produced and mixed, and mastered by Dave Cooley (Tame Impala, J Dilla, M83), the ten-track record features a range of collaborations from Toronto based artist DESIIRE,
U.K based Korean pianist and rapper Pianwooo, Seoul rapper PNSB, L.A beatmaker Dreamdave and New Jersey MC, L.J The Alien. Her latest self-released record Cosmos is supported by Canada Council For The Arts, where she expressed Lofi, Electronica and DnB, recently featured on BBC 1 Radio, Benji B show.
